LATIN AMERICA PORTAL

Image:Latamportal.png

Latin America was traditionally defined as the regions of the Americas where Spanish, the language of Spain, and Portuguese, the language of Portugal, were spoken. In practice, however, virtually all of the Western Hemisphere except the United States, Canada, and the non-Hispanophone countries of the Caribbean have tended to come under the heading of Latin America. Other areas where languages derived from Latin (such as French, Papiamento or Kreyol) predominate are sometimes included and sometimes excluded from Latin America, depending on the speaker.

Civilians are also encouraged to display the national flag on these days. Many of the dates listed in the law denote significant events and people that shaped of Mexican identity and the course of its History. There also have been occasions where official flag day notices that been announced in the Official Journal of the Federation, but later revoked. One such case was that November 1 was declared a holiday to hoist the national flag in 1991, but was later removed from the list four years later from another order published in Diario Oficial de la Federación.

Quote of the Day

El cariño que te tengo
No te lo puedo negar
Se me sale la babita
Yo no lo puedo evitar.

The love I have for you
is something I cannot deny
I drool all over
I cannot help it.
